Jewelry Cleaning – Keep your jewelry clean and looking new without ruining it.Tips and Advice(2021)

Jewelry cleaning seems simple enough, but without some general knowledge and understanding you can do more damage than good. When cleaning your jewelry the goal should be to make it look better, maybe almost new, without causing any damage. Depending on the situation, you may need to pay attention to a certain aspect of your precious item. Sometimes it is the stone, other times the metal or the components of your jewelry that need more attention to avoid ruining your jewelry.

  1. Thanks. I’ve also heard that it should be a soft bristled toothbrush that has not been used for teeth cleaning because toothpaste residue might damage the jewelry and the bristles might be too rough after extended use. 🤷‍♀️

  2. Another toothbrush O NO U will loose ur diamond or any stone. Go out come home with a Skelton of a Ring. Say what happened. My Grandmother would have smacked u. I a disabled senior and never used a toothbrush. Grandmother knew BEST.. He wants to follow u to get the stones that fall off ur Ring. OH NO where is my 2carot diamond. LOL but true Remember Jewelry is delicate.and graceful So if u want to keep ur stones use water, a rang Id rather have dull then nothing.

  3. I try to keep jewelry from getting dirty, by not wearing it while I clean my home or work and mostly run hot water over it to clean. I have also taken it in for a jeweler to clean once. Soap And water as needed.

  4. I use a ultra sonic bath with distilled water. Work great for my wife’s white gold wedding ring.

I will keep in mind your caution about emeralds. And other softer stones.

  5. Hi, love your channel! I didn’t find a video about Spinel on your channel. Would you be making a video about spinel at some point?

I believe I’ve bought a ring with a blue spinel which is most likely a ”lab grown” or simulant. It looks like it could be aquamarine. The ring wasn’t very expensive, I bought it used. A 18k gold ring made in Sweden in 1951. Nonetheless it’s very pretty, I’d love to know more about the gemstone overall. Thank you!

  6. Hi! Thanks for an informative video! I found that using a polish cloth leaves scratches no matter hos soft the cloth, would you say one should not use a polishing cloth on new gold or silver jewelry?

  7. this is an important subject. i was hoping you’d show us some hands-on techniques or at least actual examples of cleaning. i wanted to see you cleaning some jewelry & before & afters. i have many gemstone rings & i clean them with the soft toothbrush, but i’d still like to see your technique. also, can you suggest cleaning brands? i would have liked to see more detailed information — maybe you can do a part 2 of this video.

  8. I have recently cleaned a lot of my jewelry with a soft bristle toothbrush and was very pleased with the result. I soaked it in a warm solution of dawn and water first, and then carefully brushed it.
